Adult volunteers are 18 years of age or older and volunteer in almost every area of the museum. Along with interns, youths, guild and board members, 350 adult and family volunteers donated over 73,197 hours to the museum in 2009 with a value contribution of $1,482,239.02. Please complete the volunteer application packet in order for the Volunteer Services staff to assist you to get started as soon as possible in your pursuit to become a museum volunteer.
Organizations and companies also partner with the museum to allow their employees to volunteer individually or as members of a company volunteer team. The teams often choose a day and time once a week over the course of 5-10 weeks and then allow 1-2 members of the team to alternately participate once a month or every six weeks in the volunteer job. Through this unique program, employees can volunteer on company time but only miss one half day of work once a month or so as they actively pursue their own company volunteer opportunity partnership with the museum.
